FAMILY & SPECIAL EVENTS

Paws to Read--Tuesday, February 7 at 4pm  Children of all ages will enjoy reading to well-trained dogs provided by the Dog Training Club of Champaing-Urbana.  This is a great way for children to practice their reading skills in a low-pressure environment.

Tolono Public Library District Board Meeting--Tuesday, February 7 at 6pm  Open to the public, for a complete agenda, visit "About the Library" page from our website, www.tolonolibrary.org.

Valentine Make & Take--Saturday, February 11 from 2-3pm  Crafts for ages four and up...Valentine's Day themed, conducted by Jeannette Hulick.

Between the Lines Book Club--Sunday, February 19 at 1pm  We will be discussing "Wench: a novel" by Dolen Perkins-Valdez.

Tax Assistance:

Beginning on Friday, February 10th, 2012, free tax assistance will be available at the Tolono Public Library.  Assistance is available to taxpayers with middle and low income, with special attention to those ages 60 and older.  Volunteers have been trained through the AARP Tax-Aide program in cooperation with the IRS and will provide this confidential tax preparation service at no charge.  Assistance is by appointment only and will take place in the library.  This service will continue through April 13th. The volunteer will be here every Friday through the end of tax season; if he has appointments scheduled.  Persons interested in receiving free tax assistance should call the library at 217-485-5558 to schedule an appointment.  Please bring last year’s income tax forms and all supporting documentation.  The volunteers will not complete business or farm returns.

The TPL also has some Tax forms and booklets available. If you need additional forms you may sign on to one of the public use computers and print forms as needed (15 cents a sheet).  For Federal forms please visit  http://www.irs.gov/ and for Illinois state forms visit http://www.revenue.state.il.us/.
